Your guide to Virginia City
Now that's a nice day in Virginia City
- 1
Adjust your attitude for the altitude
Head to the Bucket of Blood for a Bloody Mary — or, for the nondrinker, a nice iced coffee from the Roasting House.
- 2
Stroll C Street
Cross the street and walk south, in and out of the shops — and stop in to see me at 32 South C Street!
- 3
Visitor's center
At the end of the block: buy tickets to attractions and use the restroom.
- 4
Ride the Virginia & Truckee
Ticket in hand, walk down to the V&T Railroad for a train ride. Bring water.
- 5
Lunch
Virginia City Jerky Co (BBQ), the Palace for burgers (the Frisco is my favorite), or Virginia City Joe's for fish and chips.
- 6
Take the trolley
Sit back for a tour on the Virginia City Trolley.
- 7
Museums & something sweet
See The Way It Was Museum, then Grandma's Fudge for ice cream. The Fourth Ward School Museum & Archives is a can't-miss.
- 8
Take a little Mark Twain home
Don't forget a souvenir Mark Twain penny from Historic Sundance.
